Entry into Applehills Academy is by assessment, either informal or more structured, as appropriate to the level of entry.

Students seeking admission into Pre-Nursery are assessed informally. More structured assessments are conducted for those pupils seeking entry into classes ranging from Nursery 1 to Grade 5 in Mathematics and English. Students must fulfill the entry requirements for each class before they are offered admission.

Most successful applicants join at the start of the School year in September; occasionally students are admitted during the course of the school year.
